These are prototypes for artworks that will be sent into orbit by existing space agencies. Some will have transmitters for tracking while others will define their orbits in silence. The Spaceobject could be placed into orbit by the space arm or by an astronaut during a space walk. It would exist among space debris as an intentionally aesthetic object that will have a defined life expectancy as a satellite and will eventually deliver a fraction of a second of coloured light as a shooting star at the moment of re-entry. The artist sees this ephemeral work as a new type of public art. The prototypes are based on models of mathematical symmetry taken from mathematics texts. The actual shape, weight, size and visual characteristics of the Spaceobject is dependent on the guidelines and parameters provided by the appropriate agencies.
